As society moves through its everyday activities there are numerous issues that men and women confront in there daily lives. Some of these experiences are shared, but all to often the event, no matter how similar, are remarkably divergent in procedure and conclusion. ‘Understanding the Environment of Gender Equality’ is a project to set up a multiple page blog web site. The web site will look into various aspect of the feminist movement, where it stands to day, how it has changed from it conception, and early attempts to gain political and social equality. The work will explore the environment around myself, and try to draw conclusions based off of information collected from individuals and by observing the popular media. By analyzing personal viewpoints in comparison with results of research, the consequences of interpersonal relationships and exterior forces will be measured. Exploring these differences of opinion from women and their beliefs about women’s role in society, ranging from professors, friends (young and old), family members as well as employers, will further my understanding of how I affect and am affected by the differences of gender in society.

Goal:

The Goal of this web page is to allow for and enable a discussion concerning gender roles in society. It is the belief that by allowing for any issue to be discussed and thought about allows for mutual understanding and the advancement of society.

Web Page:

The web site in its entirety will contain 7 pages: Homepage, Commentary on questions of gender in media/society, Interview Research Conclusion, History, Multimedia, Links, Bibliography.

*Pages will be added as necessary.

Research:

I am interviewing women that occupy a place a in my life to see what there opinions on gender equality and gender roles in society are.  There are eight basic questions posed:

1.     Do you feel that inequality still exists in today’s society in America?

2.     Do you feel women have a critical role in today’s society political and social?

3.     Do you feel that you have been affected by this inequality, if it exists?

4.     Do you feel that religion has played a role throughout history in the inequality of men and women?

5.     Does religion still uphold unequal practices of discrimination of gender in informal and formal rules?

6.     If it has, in what capacity do you feel that the church played n establishing gender roles?

7.     Do you feel these same gender roles enter into today’s society?

8.     What is your current perception of the feminist’s movement, and do you feel society as a whole has a positive or negative view on the feminist movement?

These question are broadly posed question, to provide the interviewed with unrestricted freedom and liberties to answer the questions in any capacity they desire. The answers to these questions will be weighed against my perceptions of women and their roles in society and norms that I see and understand around me.
